僕の持論に、「人間は残酷な人ほど優しくなれる」というのがあります。残酷な人ってね、相手がどう思っていようか全く関係ないんだよ。相手の気持ちなんて関係ないの。自分が好きだから言葉を尽くして気持ちを尽くすんだけど、「ああ、もうこの人はこれ以上のことは伝わらないんだな」って思ったその瞬間から、一切手を引くことが出来る。未練がましい人は、相手にかけた気持ちや時間とか時にはお金に執着する。残酷な人は、そういうものは持ち合わせていない。これ以上はダメだと思ったその瞬間から、プッツリと気持ちを切ることが出来る。優しさってそういうものなんだと思うんだ。相手の状態がどうであれ、出来る限りのことを自分がする。それでもダメって思ったら、後ろ髪を引かれながらも背中を向ける。

そういうのが優しさってもんじゃないかな。私はそういう付き合い方をしたい。
